What is required to get a license in Kentucky?
For sales associates:
- Proof of age 18 and above.
- You must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Proof of completion of pre license education.
- You must go through a complete FBI criminal background check.
- Complete and pass the real estate examination and apply within 60 days.
- Complete the application form given to you upon passing the exam on site.
- Fees: Examination Fees (Sales Associate: $100). License (Sales Associate: $60)
For brokers:
- Proof of age 18 and above.
- You must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Proof of completion of 21 credit hours with 12 in real estate from an accredited college with three 3 credit hours in Brokerage Management or three hundred thirty-six (336) classroom hours in real estate from an approved proprietary school with 48 in Brokerage Management. To request an education review you can fill in this form and allow 10 days of processing before you register for an examination.

What score do I need to pass?
The Sales Associate exam consists of 80 national questions and 50 state-specific questions. To pass, you must answer correctly at least 75% of the questions.

What should I bring with me for the exam?
- 2 Forms of identification with matching names, non-expired and containing a valid signature. (Driver's license, passport, green card, U.S. social security card, debit or credit card with signature). One of them must be government issued and photo bearing.
- You must bring a basic, silent, non-programmable calculator which does not have a keyboard containing the alphabet.
